there. cooler temperatures for today. going to be a more comfortable day after the heat and humidity of the weekend. we'll see temperatures right around or maybe even slightly below normal for today. we'll show what you is going on as we speak. 64degrees in the nation's capital. 60 at dulles airport. baltimore at 60 degrees. not too bad outside. there are some clouds out there and there are also some showers early this morning off to the north and west around front royal. you are get something shower activity and some of those showers may even make it into the beltway region. we'll have to wait and see how that twops during the next hour or so. later on, partly to mostly sunny skies. here is your forecast for today. partly to mostly sunny, a cooler day and less humid. how about that. high today after yesterday, i think we got up to 91.

high today, about 79 degrees. -- we'll have to wait and see how that develops during the next hour or so. take a look at this picture. this is a virginia man who is recovering from a hit and run boating accident on the chesapeake bay on saturday. he is 55-year-old mark gentile. he had gone into the water to retrieve a bait container when he was struck by a passing speedboat. the boat's propeller sliced his leg. montgomery county police arrested a man accused of taxing a pregnant woman in her home in dam as cause. 38-year-old woman is said to have caused the tax. police in baltimore are trying to figure out why an off

duty police officer shot and kill a former marine at a nightclub over the weekend. they think that tyrone brown groped the officer's girlfriend. the officer refused a breathalyzer. a cap under the gulf of mexico is collecting more and more oil this morning. engineers say it is capturing more than half the leaking oil but the coast guard warns the bat toll contain the leak is likely to stretch into the fall. for the first time, dead birds covered in oil are being reported in texas. oil globs are starting to wash up on the beaches of the florida panhandle. storms rolling through the midwest have killed at least seven people. the father of a valedictorian in ohio was among those skilled. in ill i, a major storm ripped through the central part of the state with a tornado destroying buildings and

uprooting trees. we have a look at a busy week this week. >> reporter: monday, apple's worldwide developer conference kick off. over 5,000 of the world's brightest developers are gathering in san francisco for the week-long event. consumers will have the opportunity to work one on one with apple engineers to try out new concepts and get answers to their questions. apple is expected to unveil its much-anticipated iphone 4 tb. tuesday, major primary election as cross the country. also on tuesday, the natalee holloway resource center opens in washington, d.c. the holloway family is launching the center in an effort to educate parents and students about safe travel as well as provide resources for families seeking missing persons abroad. the opening will come just days after the long-time suspect in natalee's case was arrested in connection to the brutal murder

on the bay. when he vent he ventured out to retrieve something, a speedboat came by and sliced through his leg. >> they kept on going. >> the incident happened near thomas point light between fishing creek and south river. witnesses told police a man and a woman were in the boat that hit gentile. a montgomery county woman accused of taxing a pregnant woman is expected to be in court. police a 38-year-old christine devoe attacked the woman at her home. the victim somehow got away and ran to a neighbor's home who

then called 911. police say devoe is a scientist would lives in monrovia. they describe the woman as friends or acquaintances. >> there isn't any kind of romance or anything like that involved. it is a more convoluted relationship than that. >> it is a quiet neighborhood. everybody gets along with each other. this is the first time i've heard of any crime around here. >> police arrested dev oa. at a frederick hotel. she is facing six charges in that attack. officers responded to a call of shots fired on w street southeast saturday night. there, they found 17-year-old deron lucas shot several times. so far, no word on the motive or any suspects in this case. police are offering a reward up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and a conviction. a former marine was killed

a at baltimore night will nightclub saturday night. 3 #-year-old tyrone brown was pronounced dead yesterday morning. police say he was shot by an officer who had a gun with him. the man was shot several times by an officer at the nightclub. >> i would actually feel better if my brother died in iraq versus coming home and dying. he doesn't cause harm to no one. he didn't mean any harm to nobody. that is why this is so ridiculous. >> baltimore police say the officer who shot brown is a 15- year veteran. he has been suspended with pay while internal fairs investigates. the coast guard is warning that the oil leak in the gulf may not be fully contained until this fall. british petroleum is planning to put another cap on top of the cap already there. engineers say this now sucking

midwest storms have killed at least seven people including the proud father of a valedictorian at a high school near toledo that had to reschedule its graduation. in illinois, a major storm ripped through the central part of the state. a tornado destroyed buildings and uprooted trees there. in michigan, the storm damage left behind in the town of dundee, some said it looked mother like a war zone. a power plant south of detroit was vut shutt down after severe storms ripped the siding off the building. officials are making sure the plant is safe before it goes back into operation. soy the vice president is in egypt this morning. joe biden just met with

president hosni mubarak in the last hour. biden and mubarak are holding talks on a range of topics. israeli ambassador to the united states is responding to tough questions several days of a deadly raid on that flotilla. nine people including a 19-year- old american were killed in monday's attack. it sparked international anger and has complicated u.s. relations with israel. but israel remains defiant. >> israel has at built and the right to investigate itself, not to be investigated by any international board. i don't think the united states would want an international inquiry into its military activities in afghanistan, for example. >> the israeli navy intercepted another ship carrying aid to gaza on saturday. this time, nobody was injured. a terrorism bust in new york. investigators arrested two men at jfk airport accusing them of trying to leave the united

we are back this morning at 15 minutes until 4:00. and some storms on sunday left behind area damage. this is a tree that came toppling down into a car on southeast. the car's owner says she and her boyfriend were at eastern market to celebrate her birthday and the couple came back to find the tree smashed into her car. >> tons of neighbors have been coming by taking pictures and telling us they heard what sounded like a car accident. people up side say it woke their children and we're just lucky we weren't in it and it wasn't worse really. >> the driver says her insurance should cover most of the damage. >> wow! >> that is really bad. that is awful. >> yikes! >> the storms are out of here

and hopefully the muggy conditions too. >> a cold front came through t has taken the humidity out with it. we are not completely rain- free. there is still a little bit of precipitation out there but it will shape up to be a very nice day with much more comfortable conditions across the area. i want to start by showing you hd radar. we are seeing light shower activity. it is not significant but it is out there so you want to be aware of it. the precipitation is dissipating as we speak. but still, in frederick, maryland, we are seeing some precip. just a little bit just north of leesburg. there is frederick there. and we are across the front front royal area. we are seeing light shower activity but again, this is all dissipating as it moves eastward. right now, i don't think much it was will make it into across the beltway. i don't think maybe a brief shower into western portions of the beltway but that is going to be about it. it is wrapping up as it moves to the east. let's go back to the graphics. show you the current

temperatures and gurvir is right. much more comfortable start to the day. currently, it is 64 degrees in washington. gaithersburg is at 55 degrees. 57 in manassas and then you take a look at the big pick as we pull this out. you can see that across the eastern united states, we see cooler air in place behind that cold front up in the north. 59 in new york city. 47 in binghamton. down to the south, you've still got the warmer air at 70 degrees right now at cape hatteras. your surface map for today. there is your cold front that. has come through so instead of seeing highs in the 90s like we've been seeing and the humidity. cooler air arrives. we'll get relief from the heat and humidity. for today, i think our temperature will be below normal after seeing temperatures about 10 degrees above normal. we'll be below by a couple of degrees today. forecast looks like this, mostly sunny, light wind. we'll have partly sunny skies with some of those clouds coming through. not as humid. a cooler day today with a high of 79 degrees. then for tonight, not bad,

then expect them to just not, you know, do things. >> reporter: experts say if you aren't looking over their shoulder, you have already lost control. >> chances are there are a lot of your parents that your daughter has already been a victim of cyberharrassment. someone has taken an inappropriate picture or sent an inappropriate message about your daughter to someone else. >> reporter: social media like facebook is the new bathroom wall where mean girls and boys use posts to spread rumors. problem is once it is on the worldwide web, can't just paint over it or wipe it off. it is there forever. >> a lot of things that happen to facebook that gets right into school. >> reporter: houseman says 64% of teens admit they've done things online they don't want their parents to know about. he says they actually want you to set boundaries. >> go through their phone. >> most teenagers say that the time they struggle the most with technology is when they are on their own. >> reporter: it is up to you. sit down with your teen at least once a week being review
